Biography.

Steven Neubauer is the CEO of Adcubum AG, a leading software provider of insurance core solutions. Previously, he was CEO of Comparis.ch (the market-leading Swiss price comparison website), a member of the executive board of the NZZ Media Group and Managing Director of the “NZZ Medien” business unit, and Associate Partner and member of the leadership of the Telecoms, Media, and Technology Practice at McKinsey. Steven Neubauer studied marketing, finance and business informatics at the University of Bayreuth and earned his doctorate in innovation management at RWTH Aachen University. He is married and has four children.

How to build an execution machine - a transformation playbook

1. Start with Subtraction. Execution begins not with adding initiatives, but with removing what holds you back. Expose and eliminate hidden liabilities, surface tech and organizational debt, shut down pet projects, and staff your leadership team with operators—not observers. Speed matters.
2. Strategy Only Matters If It Touches the Ground. Strategy gains value only when translated into deliberate action. Leadership must define the boundary conditions for execution: clear priorities, intentional resource allocation, disciplined review mechanisms (QBRs, MBRs), and direct customer engagement. What you build is not just a strategy—but an execution machine.
3. Culture Follows Performance, Not the Other Way Around. Enduring cultures are a byproduct of organizations obsessed with performance. Don’t try to “have a great culture.” Build a great company—one that demands excellence, clarity, and accountability. Culture doesn’t eat strategy for breakfast
