Prof. Dr. Peter Rohner

Adjunct Professor of Business Innovation

Biography.

Peter Rohner launched his first IT company while studying computer science and business management in the late 1980s and has been an entrepreneur ever since. From his very first projects, he has been interested in how business and IT can work well together and what role management should play in this. Peter therefore completed a doctorate in business/IT strategy and later wrote a postdoctoral thesis on transforming large organisations. In parallel to his work as an entrepreneur and management consultant for large companies, he is a professor at the University of St. Gallen, where he is involved in research and teaching. He regularly publishes articles on topics related to the success of transformations and large, complex projects. Peter also spent over 10 years on the board of the Thurgau Chamber of Industry and Commerce, where he learned how politics and business can work together. In all his leadership roles, he has always drawn on the experience he gained in his younger years as a tank company commander in the Swiss Army: the team always came first, then the mission.

Transformation Leadership: What leaders must do if they truly want transformation

Many managers and entrepreneurs want to reap the benefits of enterprise-level-end-to-end-automation. However, they shy away from the transformation necessary to achieve this. Prof. Dr. Peter Rohner shows what it takes:
– Courage to tackle the complexity of the company
– Courage to bring the key weaknesses and potential of end-to-end automation to the table
– Courage to adapt the organisation of the company
– Courage to tackle the ‘big rocks’
and which methods and models really help in this process.
