Stephan leads Group Functions Technology which includes the technology functions for Group Finance, Group Risk Control, Group Compliance, Regulatory and Governance, Group Legal, Group Human Resources and Group Corporate Services as well as Communications and Branding. He is based in Zurich and is Swiss. Stephan joined UBS as CTO for Group Functions Technology in July 2023. Prior to joining UBS, Stephan spent over 28 years at Credit Suisse, most recently as Group Chief Architect. He also held various technology leadership roles including Head of Client Trading IT Private Banking, Chief Architect Private Banking IT and Head of IT Security. Stephan is one of eight individuals to be appointed as UBS Technology Fellows within the firm’s Distinguished Engineers framework. Stephan is leading one of the main AI initiatives within the bank.
